Beginning of feasibility studies. Requests to United Way Canada/Centraide for establishment information.
Spring 1996
Community information meetings and surveys conducted.
May 1996
Ongoing communications and response from all neighbouring United Ways that they were unable to expand their own areas and would welcome a new branch.
June 1996
Invitational meeting with guest speaker John Thompson, Executive Director of Kitchener & Area United Way. Study committee formed with monthly meetings to begin.
Throughout 1997
Compilation and research of unserviced areas, and tasks to be undertaken. Timelines and active implementation planning.
September 1997
Submission of report for United Way of Grey, Bruce and Dufferin and request for affiliation with United Way of Canada/Centraide.United Way/Centraide Canada expresses concerns regarding magnitude of geographical area.
Fall 1997
Study Committee begins weekly meetings. Six new committees formed. Recommendations for Board of Directors positions began being accepted and continue.
November 1997
Community Input session attended by Jules Belanger and Monique Doolittle of United Way Canada/Centraide.
December 1997
Jules Belanger returned to facilitate an organizing workshop. Study committee makes the decision of changing the area to Bruce and Grey counties only.
January 1998
Creation of Information Kits. Active campaigning and confirmation for seed funding and Corporate Sponsors.
February 1998
Seed Funding received from Investors Group Financial Services Inc. United Way Canada/Centraide consultant, Jules Belanger facilitated workshop 2. |
