United Way of Bruce Grey would welcome you as a volunteer in any of the following positions or capacities. It is volunteer involvement that allows United Ways to succeed and keep administration and staffing costs minimal enabling us to invest more in our community. We seek to involve local volunteers and residents of our service area in both the raising and allocating of funds as well as the governance of the organization and it is this that makes United Ways autonomous where they are located. This is what ensures that United Way's are responsive and as diverse as the community they serve.
1. Board of Directors: Our board of directors are a governance board and employ an Executive Director to supervise staff and see to the day-to-day operations of the organization. This may interest professional people who have 2-4 hours per month to commit to regular monthly meetings and you would be contributing to and observing the local growth and development of a registered charity/public foundation that seeks to become the largest nongovernmental supporter of local human service agencies and programs in the region someday.
2. Committees: the likes of Campaign and Fundraising, Allocations, Media & Communications, Community Direction and Planning could use your input.
3. One-time special events and fundraisers at the likes of tollbooths, parades and things would welcome your participation and you would meet some other great people who are creating a caring community.
4. We also have several co-ordinator positions available that offer hands on experience to further education or career fields. i.e.: Campaign Chair, Volunteer coordinator, Special events co-coordinators for which descriptions are available upon request by contacting us or filling out the volunteer form stating interests. |
