I have not lived in Owen Sound for many years, but when I did, I lived up on the east hill with my grandparents George & Elsie Lumley, and had a well know brother (deceased now) Tom Beatty. Anyone who might remember us please respond with a hello It would be nice to hear from anyone as my family is all deceased now. |

Spring is almost here and we have made a couple visits up to the Owen Sound area already this year. Since my last visit to this Guestbook, my daughter Mindy (husband Cameron MacKay) has had a little Grandaughter, Rylin MacKay, to go along with my Grandson, Chase MacKay. They are something that Patsy and I can't get enough of! My oldest son, Dave, has been in Red Deer, Alberta for 3 years now with no intentions, at this time, of moving back this way. (might have to work on that) My youngest son, Dylan, is working in Mississauga and have been with the same company for around 10 years now.
Life is pretty good, inspite being in a GM town.
We still have our cottage up in Northern Ontario, near Chapleau, and it is out goal to get back up there starting the first day we get home from a vacation. We are lucky to be part of two great families (Rutherford & Atchison) but it is our extended families on top of this that make us feel most blessed. After 33 years with the same company, I think the end is in sight but not close enough yet.
Still have quite a bit of family in Owen Sound area and YES that is the best area in the world to live. That is enough rambling for now!

It's been several years since my last posting, and now that this is the last day of the Winter Olympics and sports on our minds---reminds me of my two years in Owen Sound when the Owen Sound Mercuries Sr. Hockey team became Allan Cup Champions in 1950-51, and the following year the Owen Sound Crescents became Canadian Lacrosse Champions. In fact my OSCVI phys ed. teacher Jack Foote played on that team and the last time I met him was at the 1996 OSCVI reunion. Fond memories all. All the best from Ottawa. |

Just found your site. I was born and raised in Owen Sound, I went to Victoria P.S. ,OSCVI, and O.S. Business College. I moved away in 1962 to Toronto
I have 3 daughters (1st born deceased) and 4 beautiful granddaughters Even though I left so many years ago,Owen Sound will always be called home,wonderful memories and great childhood friends. My first friend was Norah Payne,we started K.together (Dufferin) then she moved I believe to Belleville, her father worked for the Sun Times. Nice to reminess. Great site will visit again |
